ManguJyoti is the combined name of a well-known spouses twosome, consisting of Mangu Kumar Sahoo and Jyothika Sahoo. The name is a portmanteau derived from their nicknames, "Mangu" and "Jyoti".

ManguJyoti early life and background

Mangu Kumar Sahoo was born on February 4, 2001. He is the son of Ajay Sahoo, a laborer, and Lata Sahoo, a homemaker and his families from their ancestral village of Kantalabai village in Khordha district his family relocated due to land ownership disputes. They familie lived in a rented house in the village of Kamaguru for several years during Mangu's childhood before moving to Mayurjhalia and currently resided in Arishal village the under Kamaguru Panchayat since at least November 1, 2020. He was in a six-year on-again, off-again relationship with Monalisha Baliarsingh (2016–2020) and briefly dated Laxmi Priya Lenka in 2018.

Jyothika Sahoo was born as Sumitra Baliarsingh on September 17, 2006, in the village of Kamaguru. She is the daughter of Gagan Bihari Baliarsingh, a tailor and garment shop owner, and Manjulata Baliarsingh. Growing up in Kamaguru, she was active as a child dancer in a local troupe called the "Brilliant Group Team". She attended Kamaguru Nodal High School and later enrolled in Kamaguru College but discontinued her studies after the 11th standard in 2022 due to family restrictions. She has two younger siblings Madhusmita Baliarsingh and Viswajit Baliarsingh.

ManguJyoti History of the Relationship

Mangu Kumar Sahoo had knew Jyothika Sahoo since her childhood because his family lived in a rented house in her home village of Kamaguru for several years. While Mangu recognized her from those early years, Jyoti was entirely unaware of him during that time.

Mangu was initially friends with a younger man named Rashmiranjan Jena (alias Bunty) and Mangu grew disillusioned with Bunty after discovering he was a "womanizer" and witnessed him constantly chasing and attempting to woo Jyothika to protect Jyoti and intervene in Bunty's pursuits, Mangu decided to reach out to her himself, Mangu sent Jyoti a friend request on Facebook, after she accepted, they engaged in a brief but impressive messaging conversation and decided to meet in person immediately that same day, their first in-person meet took place on September 20, 2021, at the State Bank of India (SBI) branch in Kamaguru Jyoti's home village, at the time, Mangu was 20 years old and Jyoti was 15 years old on her 15th birthday, during their meet at the bank, Mangu proposed to Jyoti, she was initially speechless for about one day, they met for a second day on September 21, 2021, at a roadside in the Kamaguru Panchayat, where she accepted his proposal established their relationship.

Interpersonal Conflicts and External Challenges

Conflict with Ajay Raul (Aju): In 1 October, 2021, Jyoti befriended a college classmate named Ajay Raul. While Jyoti viewed him as a friend, Aju fell in love with her. Mangu discovered them together at Jyoti’s father’s garment shop, leading to a physical and verbal altercation on College Road. The dispute was resolved when Mangu’s friend, Lupun, brokered a mutual apology and Aju agreed to stop contacting Jyoti.
Past Relationship Disclosure: Jyoti revealed to Mangu her previous relationship with Ramakant Behera (Sansari), whom she had left after realizing he was a "womanizer". Mangu later contacted and interrogated Sansari, leading to a conflict that ended with Sansari blocking Mangu.
Interference from Others: A friend named Dosa attempted to sabotage the relationship by spreading a lie that Mangu’s family was homeless, which Mangu later refuted. Additionally, Mangu’s former associate Bunty (Rashmiranjan Jena) spread rumors in college to try and separate the couple.

Family Opposition and Seclusion

Discovery: After meeting secretly for several months, the couple was caught together by Jyoti's parents and her sister, Madhusmita, in a forest near her home on May 10, 2022
Consequences for Jyoti: Following the discovery, Jyoti’s family placed her under domestic seclusion. She was prohibited from leaving her house and forced to discontinue her education after the 11th standard.
Prolonged Conflict: The couple endured approximately nine months of intense family opposition and conflict.

Elopement and Marriage

The Elopement: On February 9, 2023, at approximately 6:36 PM, the couple eloped after Jyoti's father called Mangu and told him to take her away. They fled from Kamaguru to Siko and sought refuge at the home of Mangu's uncle and aunt.
The Wedding: On the third day of their hiding, Mangu’s mother (Lata) and sister (Rashmita) decided the couple should marry. They were wed on February 12, 2023, at the Maa Mangala Temple in Raj Jankia. At the time, Mangu was 22 and Jyoti was 17.
Fatherhood: Nearly a year after their wedding, their daughter, Elesha Sahoo, was born on January 22, 2024.
